Assistant Professor
Mariola Ruiz Rodríguez holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Córdoba and has been serving as an assistant professor in the Department of English and German Philology at the University of Córdoba since 2021. Her academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in English Philology from the University of Córdoba (2009-2014), as well as two Master's degrees: a Master's in English for Professional Qualification (2016-17) and a Master's in Secondary Education, Vocational Training, and Language Teaching (2019-2021).
Her research focuses on gender, sexuality, Queer theory, Gothic literature, and feminist criticism. She has published several works on these topics, including studies on virtual student mobility and the gamification of English teaching, applying contemporary and gender-based approaches to Anglophone culture in academic and literary contexts. In addition, she actively participates in teaching innovation and research projects.
In her teaching role, she offers a variety of courses related to English, ranging from introductory classes to specialized courses in cultural studies and English-language literatures. She has also supervised undergraduate theses and has taken on academic and administrative coordination responsibilities, including serving as the academic secretary at international conferences.
She has enriched her training with academic stays at institutions such as Royal Holloway and Bedford (United Kingdom), the University of Limerick (Ireland), University Democritus of Thrace (Greece), and University College Cork (Ireland), which has broadened her international perspective in teaching and research. She regularly participates in conferences and workshops, reflecting her commitment to pedagogical development and specialization in gender and diversity studies.
